On our tour we start off visiting Chiang Saen, one of the oldest cities in Thailand, where the old ancient ruins sit cheek by jowl with modern day Thai villagers’ houses.

ITINERARY

back 20 or 30 years in time and you will have a strong impression of how Thailand must have been like all those years ago. On our tour
we start off visiting Chiang Saen, one of the oldest cities in Thailand, where the old ancient ruins sit cheek by jowl with modern day Thai villagers’ houses.

We take a boat along the Mekong River and en route visit the White Hmong hilltribe village of Baan Kiuw Karn, and the town of Chiang Khong, which is well known locally for its giant cat fish that live there in the river (depends on season). We then cross the river and head into Laos. Taking a local pick up truck we visit
a Lantan hill tribe and a local Sapphire mine (seasonal). There’s time for shopping at Huay Xai market before we cross back into Thailand. (Tour price includes US$ 50 Lao Visa fee).
